Painted Shaker Oval Boxes
These Shaker oval boxes are made entirely by hand, cutting the "swallowtails" carefully from solid Pennsylvania cherry, immersing the sides in very hot water, and bending them around a wooden form. The sides are fastened with solid copper tacks. This process is repeated for the lid. Tops and bottoms are attached with wooden pegs.
The boxes are hand - painted using water-based, lead-free colors, then they are lightly rubbed for an antiqued look. The colours are very close to those the Shakers used.
Each nest of boxes will include various unspecified colours. The boxes can be sold separately and the colours can be specified - please phone Shaker of Malvern.
